Symphonia Academica has at its core a group of friends who met while playing with the BBC Concert Orchestra. The ensemble all shares the vision of performing repertoire they love and conveying their enthusiasm to their audience. The ensemble has performed a wide range of music, from duos to quintets, from chamber versions of Haydn and Mahler symphonies to Piazzolla and Vivaldi for marimba and strings. They have had successful residencies at the University of Bedfordshire and Anglia Ruskin University and have enjoyed working with students of all ages. They have also performed for music clubs and at venues throughout southern England.

Peter Bussereau (violin) joined the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra after his studies at the University of London and the Guildhall School of Music. He subsequently became a principal violinist with the BBC Concert Orchestra, which he has recently left to pursue his love of chamber music as well as studying for a degree at the Open University.

Judit Kelemen (viola) studied at the Liszt Ferenc Music Academy in Budapest before her career took her from the Budapest Festival Orchestra via the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra and Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra to the BBC Concert Orchestra in 2017. During that time Judit has maintained her love of chamber music and teaching.

Jacqueline Phillips (cello) has had a varied career as a session player, orchestral and chamber musician and soloist. She has guest lead for, and acted as co-principal in, orchestras such as the Scottish Opera orchestra, London Festival Orchestra, BBC National Orchestra of Wales and the BBC Concert Orchestra.
