Katie Wilkinson

Katie was born in Oxfordshire in 1964 and started playing the violin at the age of 5. She transferred to the viola a few years later and studied with Margaret Major at the Royal College of Music.

From 1983 – 1999 she was a member of the acclaimed Brindisi Quartet with whom she performed extensively at major festivals and concert halls throughout Europe and the US.
From 2006 – 2018 she was in the Balanescu Quartet with whom she performed internationally.

Katie presently combines a commercial session, chamber music and solo career.

Notable film scores in which Katie participated include several of the James Bond franchise, “Love Actually “, Pirates of the Caribbean “, “Lord of the Rings” and “Wicked” to name but a few.
Katie also recorded for numerous pop artists including Oasis, Spice Girls, The Verve, Amy Winehouse, Madonna and her particular favourite, The Cure.

Marios Argiros

Marios Argiros has been an oboist and pianist for all his professional life, and still continues to play, although he now works mainly as an Iyengar yoga teacher, teaching in the UK and running courses in Greece. Of Greek Cypriot parents, he played the piano from five, the violin from eight and the oboe from fifteen, and was accepted on all three instruments by the Royal Academy of Music aged seventeen. After the Academy he studied in Germany for two years and then went on to perform, over a thirty year career, with most of the UK’s orchestras and opera companies and held principal oboe positions in BBC Philharmonic, Kent Opera and Royal Northern Sinfonia, playing for, among others, Solti, Mackerras and Colin Davis. He also gave many oboe recitals, broadcasts and concerto performances in all parts of the UK, and collaborated in chamber music with Murray Perahia and Melvyn Tan among others. The piano has always remained a great love. Since stepping aside from oboe playing he is often to be found rehearsing and playing chamber music with fellow musicians, most of whom are friends of many years. He first performed with Katie Wilkinson in 1985 as a guest of the Brindisi Quartet.
