Catherine Wilmers’s CD (A Cello Century of British Women Composers), of lovely but neglected works for cello and piano by British women composers from 1894-1994 was released worldwide by ASV. It received the rare gold award from the French recordings magazine “Diapason”.

Her next CD: A Cello Galaxy of British Women Composers, 1899-1999, with Jill, is now available worldwide on CD and Spotify etc. The British Music Society says, ‘Go and search for this enterprising and very enjoyable disc’. There are 12 premiere recordings and lots of beautiful neglected music!

She was awarded a Wigmore Hall debut recital by the Incorporated Society of Musicians. For ten years sub-principal cellist in the London Philharmonic Orchestra, she particularly enjoyed recording music for Lord of the Rings, Porgy and Bess with Sir Simon Rattle and Mahler Symphonies with Klaus Tennstedt and was invited to teach Sir Georg Solti’s daughter. She gave concerts with top conductors all over the world, including eight visits to Japan.

“Catherine is a strong and communicative player who looks as if she enjoys being on the platform.” The Guardian
